Spitting in corners v 1 continues Brodsky’s investigation of the poetics of futility in the structures that govern everyday life. In this new body of work, Brodsky introduces elements of Baba Yaga’s mythological house on chicken feet, drawing parallels between the witch’s sentient house and contemporary smart home technologies.

Outlet is part of a series of bronze casts of architectural elements. Installed in a gallery at the standard height for each element, this series engages the viewer’s muscle memory, offering a subtle bait and switch to the familiar built environment.
