Mirror Chain, Double-sided mirror, spider wire, 2 1/2 x variable height x 2 1/2”, 2024
Kristin Posehn
"Mirror Chain" is a reflection on the many chains that serve as architectural elements in our environment—from the physical and utilitarian, to the virtual and information-based. Here a chain is realized as an interlocking binary form, a succession of open and closed loops that touch on notions of code and computation. One is invited to consider the phenomena of supply chains, chains that bind, blockchains, and chains that are worn in popular culture to signal wealth and status. Hung from floor to ceiling, the sculpture’s architectural presence evokes associations to the spinal column and axis mundi.
